Sergei Polunin
Ukrainian ballet star Sergei Polunin presents a new mixed programme at the London Palladium in the heart of the West End. Known as the ‘James Dean of ballet’, the artist’s Palladium show boasts an international cast and creative team, including Polunin himself.
Polunin began his career at the tender age of nineteen, becoming a Principal Dancer at the Royal Ballet. After incredible success, Polunin took a hiatus from dance in 2012.
Three years later, Polunin created a video in which he danced to Hozier’s ‘Take Me to Church’. The video, shot by David LaChappelle, has over twenty-five million views.
Since this triumphant return, Polunin is sought after. As well as appearing in films such as Kenneth Branagh’s Murder on the Orient Express, Polunin is now a Guest Principal Dancer at the Staatsballett in Munich. Additionally, Polunin’s story was made the subject of Dancer, a documentary feature.
Polunin again collaborated with Hozier for the video for Hozier’s new single, Movement.
A world-renowned ballet dancer, Sergei Polunin’s show is certainly not one to be missed. The show will play at the London Palladium from 28 May until 1 June.
